The Vaccines have released another new track ahead of their upcoming album ‘Combat Sports’. Scroll below to listen to ‘Nightclub’.
The band’s fourth full-length was confirmed last year, and follows ‘What Did You Expect from the Vaccines?’ (2011), ‘Come of Age’ (2012) and ‘English Graffiti’ (2015). It will be released on March 30.
Prior to the new LP, the London outfit have already shared lead single ‘I Can’t Quit’ – with the Italian, sun-soaked and bloody video dropping last week.
Now, the band have unveiled another track, ‘Nightclub’ – a pummelling less-than-three-minute slice of indie-pop. “It makes my head feel like a nightclub,” Justin Young sings over its chugging guitars and pounding drums.
‘Combat Sports’ has been called a “return to their roots” and described as “ranging from pure Vaccines rock and roll through to powerpop”.
Following the album’s release, The Vaccines will embark on a nine-date UK tour this April, culminating in a massive show at London’s Alexandra Palace. Scroll beneath to see those dates in full.
“It sort of builds on the musicality of ‘English Graffiti’, but I think there’s a lot more of spirit and energy from ‘What Did You Expect…’” frontman Justin Young told NME about the new record in 2016.
“We’re in the studio every day playing together, so it feels a lot more like a band again, which maybe ‘English Graffiti’ stopped slightly. I guess it replenishes some of that spirit and that energy of the first record.”
Speaking of what inspired his lyrics, Young said: “Sex and love, and love lost. I really I became very self-aware a couple of years ago. I was insecure about the fact that all I sung about was sex and love. I realised its all I care about. So I’ve kind of come to terms with that.”
