‘Mad Men’ star to play Moriarty in ‘Sherlock Holmes’ sequel

Jared Harris to appear as the detective's nemesis

Mad Men star Jared Harris is set to sign on as Sherlock Holmes‘ nemesis Professor Moriarty in the sequel to the 2009 film.

Jared, son of late acting legend Richard Harris, has recently received critical acclaim for his work in Mad Men as Brit Lane Pryce.

He has also appeared in The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button and Extraordinary Measures.

Harris‘ casting will come as a surprise to fans of the Guy Ritchie-directed film, after names including Brad Pitt, Daniel Day Lewis and Russell Crowe were linked with the role, reports Deadline.com

As previously reported, Stephen Fry recently confirmed that that he has signed on to play Holmes’ brother, while Swedish actress Naomi Rapace will play the female lead.

Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law will reprise their roles as Holmes and Dr Watson respectively.
