Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger to team up for rock ‘n’ roll HBO series

Titans come together again after 'Shine A Light' collaborations

Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger have teamed up again to develop a “rock ‘n’ roll drama” for US network HBO.

The project, titled A History of Music, is set to be an epic tale of two friends and their 40 years in the music industry together, from early R&B to contemporary hip-hop, reports Deadline.

There were rumours of a Scorsese and Jagger collaboration back in 2008, with The Departed writer William Monahan attached to the project, to be produced by Jagged Films.

The project came to nothing, but Scorsese and Jagger went on to make the documentary Shine a Light, which focused on two of The Rolling Stones‘ 2006 tour shows in New York.

The film featured guest appearances from President Bill Clinton, Jack White and Christina Aguilera among others.

Sopranos writer Terence Winter is on board for History of Music, and Scorsese is tipped to direct if the series is picked up.

Scorsese is currently working with Winter on another TV project for HBO, the 1920s Atlantic City prohibition drama Boardwalk Empire, which premieres on September 19.

He also has a film project in production, Hugo Cabret , which has a huge all-star cast including Sacha Baron Cohen and Oscar winner Ben Kingsley.
