Muse to headline Reading & Leeds 2017 as first wave of acts announced

Bastille, Architects, At The Drive In and more will also perform

Muse have been announced to headline Reading & Leeds festival 2017 – with Bastille, Major Lazer,  At The Drive In, and more also confirmed.

The ‘historic’ performance will see the ‘Supermassive’ space rockers return to R&L after they last topped the bill in 2011, when they played their cult classic second album ‘Origin of Symmetry in full. Renowned as one of the finest live acts on the planet and always promising a visual spectacular, this will be third time that Muse have headlined Reading & Leeds.

After they stormed the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury back in June, demand is high to see how they up their game with their ambitious ‘Drones’ live show. Earlier this year, there were calls for the band to play a ‘by request’ club tour in which the fans choose the setlist.

“We’re very excited to be playing Reading and Leeds again,” said Muse. “More news about our plans for 2017 coming in the new year.”

Reading & Leeds organiser Melvin Benn added: “I’m thrilled to be able to announce Muse as the first headliner for Reading and Leeds 2017. Their incredible live show promises to be an unforgettable performance – we have so much more to announce and I can’t wait to reveal the rest of the line up.”

While Reading veterans Bastille will be completing a victory lap for their chart-topping second album ‘Wild World’, Major Lazer will be bringing a carnival atmosphere to the main stage for a UK Festival Exclusive, and R&L will also be the only place you can catch metal heroes Architects on these shores next summer.

Meanwhile, Kasabian are also strongly rumoured to be headlining.

Reading & Leeds festival takes place from 25-27 August over the Bank Holiday weekend. Hundreds more acts are yet to be announced. Tickets are on sale now.
