Now there's an incentive to buy 'Beg For Mercy'...

50 CENT’s group G-UNIT will give away a diamond medallion worth over £7,000 pounds with the release of their new album next month.

The LA Times reports that ‘golden tickets’ will be placed in five of the first 500,000 US copies of ‘Beg For Mercy’ printed.

The competition is seen by many as method of encouraging fans to buy the album rather than downloading it.

The lavish, diamond-encrusted medallion, made in the style of the G-Unit logo, is worth $12,500 (£7,386), and is one of the first moves by record companies to improve album sales, and add excitement to the music industry, other than free extras such as accompanying DVDs.

The album is released in the UK on November 18.
