A man has been critically wounded after being shot in the head in a drive-by shooting following a 50 Cent gig in TORONTO on Tuesday (July 1).
The incident happened in a parking lot after the Molson Amphitheatre show as fans were leaving the venue. Police and paramedics arrived at the scene and found the wounded man, believed to be around 20 years old.
Witnesses said that they heard several shots, but many people initially thought that the gunfire was the sound of fireworks.
According to Canadian newspaper The Toronto Star, people were also leaving the Canada Day festivities at the CNE, Ontario Place and the waterfront when the shooting occurred, leading to widespread confusion.
Additional backup was called as police monitored the vehicles leaving the lot. Witnesses said that they saw flashes coming from a beige car and saw a black four-wheel drive leaving the scene.
The victim was taken to St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, where he remains in a critical condition.
