50 Cent sues over video game

Rapper seeks $1 million in damages

50 Cent filed suit today (July 20) against an internet advertising company for allegedly using his likeness in a video game called ‘Shoot The Rapper’ without his permission.

The rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, is suing Traffix Inc. for $1 million for using his image in the game where players are asked to shoot him by clicking a computer mouse.

If a player succeeds in shooting him, a red cloud appears and the person is directed to a website selling the defendant’s goods and services.

50 Cent‘s lawyer, Peter Raymond, said the rapper’s name is not mentioned in the game, but “it looks like him, and there’s no doubt the character is intended to be him,” reports the Associated Press.

The lawsuit seeks a minimum of $1 million in actual damages, a permanent injunction against the use of his image without his permission, and unspecified punitive damages.
