Rapper says Knight would have given Dre's share of Death Row Records to Tupac
50 Cent has claimed that Suge Knight wanted to kill Dr Dre during the 1990s in a bid to keep rapper Tupac Shakur on their Death Row Records label.
Knight is currently awaiting trial having been charged with murder, attempted murder and hit-and-run after he struck two men in the car park of a Compton fast food restaurant on January 29.
Speaking during an interview on The Breakfast Club (via HipHopDX) on March 3, 50 Cent revealed that he no longer has a relationship with Dre – the man who produced his breakthrough hit ‘In Da Club’ in 2003 – before making allegations about Knight and his time at Death Row Records.
“Suge was gonna kill Dre,” 50 Cent said. Pretending to be Knight, 50, then said: “How do I keep him? Maybe I’ll give him Dre’s half. I don’t know. Something might have to happen to Dre.”
Meanwhile, discussing the breakdown in his relationship with Dre, says that he felt unsupported by his mentor during a dispute with fellow rapper The Game.
“I don’t call to talk to him for no reason,” the rapper said. “I think that relationship was business. For a long time, I was a New York Knick player in the middle of the LA locker room. Interscope was the West Coast when it was East Coast-West Coast going on, and I never really saw them respond properly to Game’s disrespect when it happened ’cause they had some sort of allegiance to the West or something. I was like, ‘ You know I wrote the records?'”
Knight has pleaded not guilty to the charges related to his hit and run. If convicted, he could be sentenced to life in prison.
