Rapper had accused the airport janitor of being on drugs in online clip
50 Cent has apologised for a recent Instagram video in which he mocked an autistic airport employee.
The rapper, (real name Curtis Jackson), uploaded a now-deleted clip to the social media site earlier this week. It saw the star accuse 19-year-old Andrew Farrell, who works as a janitor at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport, of being on drugs.
In the video, 50 Cent follows Farrell through the airport while recording the incident on his phone. He is heard saying: “Look at him. What kind of shit do you think he took before he got to work today? He high as a motherfucker right here in the airport. The new generation is crazy.”
Jackson later deleted the post after it emerged that Farrell has mild autism and a social anxiety disorder.
In a statement issued to The New York Post‘s Page Six, Jackson says: “While the incident at the airport resulted from an unfortunate misunderstanding, I am truly sorry for offending the young man.”
“It was certainly not my intent to insult him or the disability community, which is a source of great strength in America. I have apologised personally to him and his family,” he added.
Farrell was later interviewed by Fox News about the incident, in which he said that he thought the rapper was a “jerk”.
