a1 cover 'Don't Look Back In Anger' and dedicate it to their biggest fan, Noel Gallagher...

Boyband sensation A1 did a surprise cover of the OASIS hit ‘DON’T LOOK BACK IN ANGER’ at a gig at LONDON HACKNEY OCEAN last night, after declaring NOEL GALLAGHER one of their biggest fans.

In the middle of the show, part of the MTV Five Night Stand series of gigs, a1‘s Mark Read said the band were about to play a song “you’d never have thought you’d hear us play”.

He continued: “We know he’s a big fan cos he mentions us whenever he does an interview, which is great, cos he gives us loads of publicity. This is for Noel.”

The band then launched into ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’, with Paul Marazzi on lead vocals – much to the surprise of the assembled popkids in the brand new London venue.

The tribute was in fact a snide nod at the fact that Noel has frequently slagged off a1 as manufactured.

In fact, the night, which also featured sets from Five and Hear?say was full of surprises – not all of them planned.

Earlier during a1‘s set, which also featured their hits ‘Same Old Brand New You’, ‘Take On Me’ and ‘Everytime’, Ben Adams got hit on the head by a teddy bear thrown from the crowd.

During Five‘s set, J forgot the words to their hit ‘Everybody Get Up’, meaning they had to re-record it again for future broadcast on MTV. They also performed ‘Keep On Movin”, ‘If Ya Gettin’ Down’ and ‘We Will Rock You’, before Hear?say took to the stage to sing along to a backing track.

They performed four songs, including their Number One hit ‘Pure And Simple’, next single ‘The Way To Your Love’ and ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’.
