Aaliyah‘s parents have settled a negligence lawsuit over her tragic death in 2001, which claimed that the plane, which crashed killing the singer and eight other passengers, was 700 pounds overloaded.

Diane and Michael Haughton’s attorneys filed a notice saying that the case had been settled on Thursday (September 4). However, an agreement in the notice states that details of the settlement must be kept secret.

Aaliyah died on August 25, 2001 after the chartered Cessna 402B, carrying the singer and her entourage from Marsh Harbour in the Bahamas to Miami’s Opa-locka, crashed soon after take-off.

According to Billboard, the Haughtons sued plane operator Blackhawk International Airways Corp., owners Skystream Inc., Gilbert Chacon and flight broker Atlantic Flight Group. It was alleged that Blackhawk did not have permission from the Bahamas for commercial flights.
