The rockers sold 2.31million tickets for gigs in the past year, while four acts topped £100million in ticket sales
AC/DC sold the most tour tickets in 2015, though Taylor Swift had the highest gross for total ticket sales, reports have revealed.
The Aussie rockers sold 2.31million tickets over the course of 2015, grossing $180million (£122million), though Swift’s higher ticket prices saw the pop star net $250.4million (£170million) in exchange for her 2.27million tickets, The Pulse of Radio have reported.
The Aussies aren’t done, either, with two huge UK dates in Manchester and London announced for June 2016 back in mid-December, though there are doubts about the touring continuing beyond those dates.
AC/DC released 17th album ‘Rock Or Bust’ in November 2014, reaching Number Three in both the UK and US charts, as well as topping the charts in their homeland of Australia.
The gigs could potentially be the last by AC/DC. Earlier this year frontman Brian Johnson spoke about the possibility of retirement, conceding that ‘Rock Or Bust’ could be the band’s last album.
At a date in New Zealand on December 15, meanwhile, fans were banned from drinking alcohol.
The local council ruled that alcohol was to be prohibited for 24 hours from 6am on the day of the concert, with a NZ$250 (£108) fine imposed for anyone caught consuming or possessing alcoholic beverages.
The ban was designed to “significantly assist in curbing alcohol-related harm and offending in public areas.”
