ADAM ANT was in a secure hospital ward last night (June 11) after he allegedly went on the rampage and broke a neighbour’s windows.
Ant – real name Stuart Goddard – was arrested and taken to a police station before it was decided that he should be sent to a north London hospital for treatment.
Neighbours described the 49-year-old singer, who lives in Primrose Hill, north London, as “out of control.” One witness, talking to The Sun, said, “It’s very sad. He just lost it.”
In a statement, Scotland Yard said, “A 49-year-old man was arrested for criminal damage. He was taken to a Central London police station for questioning.”
Goddard was sectioned and placed in psychiatric care in October last year at the Royal Free Hospital, North London, following an incident in a pub. The singer threatened drinkers with an imitation pistol after they made fun of his appearance.
The court also heard how he threw a car alternator through the pub window, striking musician Pavlos Contostavlos on the back of the head.
He was placed under a 12-month community rehabilitation order after Old Bailey Judge Jeremy Roberts said the singer had suffered a “temporary episode” of mental illness.
