Macaulay Culkin to appear in Adam Green remake of ‘Aladdin’

Green will release 'Adam Green’s Aladdin' and accompanying soundtrack in April

Macaulay Culkin is to star in a remake of Aladdin from Adam Green.

The New York musician releases new album ‘Adam Green’s Aladdin’ in April alongside the film of the same name. Green has also announced a string of UK dates to take place in May.

Adam Green’s Aladdin will see Culkin take on the role of Ralph the Rebel in a cast which also includes Orange Is The New Black actress Natasha Lyonne alongside Zoe Kravitz, Alia Shawkat, Har Mar Superstar, Devendra Banhart and more.

Described as a “hyper-sensory, poetic and humorously subversive take on the Classic Arabian Nights tale,” the film is written and directed by Green, who also plays Aladdin. The brand new soundtrack album was composed and recorded by Green and will be released on April 29.

The film is said to “explore the recesses of Green’s symbolic imagination wherein the lamp is a 3-D printer, the princess is a decadent socialite, the planet gets a sex-change and its population prints out an analogue version of the Internet.”

Green and his band will perform songs from ‘Adam Green’s Aladdin’ on tour in May. Actors in the film are expected to make surprise appearances throughout the tour.
