Adele to perform new songs live in hour-long BBC TV special

It will be the singer's first televised performance since 2013

The BBC will broadcast a hour-long special featuring live performances from Adele during November.

Adele At The BBC will be hosted by Graham Norton on BBC One and will see the British singer performing new songs from forthcoming album ’25’ alongside classic tracks and chatting about her life and career.

Speaking of the news, Adele says: “I can’t wait for the show. The BBC has been wonderful to me over the years and Graham and I get on great so it’s going to be a laugh.”

Norton adds: “This is the music event of the year and I’m thrilled to be part of bringing it to BBC One. This opportunity to spend an hour with Adele, her music and her stories is a truly rare treat. If I wasn’t hosting this special I’d be sat at home watching it!”

The show will be recorded in front of a live audience on November 2, although the exact transmission date is yet to confirmed.

Tickets will be allocated through a ballot, with applications for attendance open here.

The news follows recent confirmation that Adele will also perform live in the US on Saturday Night Live on November 21.

She will perform on the US TV show on the same night Matthew McConaughey returns to host. Adele previously performed on SNL in 2008.

Meanwhile, Adele’s ‘Hello’ is on course to become fastest-selling single of 2015 in the UK.

The comeback single was released last Friday (October 23) and is fans’ first taste of her new album ’25’, due for release in November. As reported, the song has already hit the top spot in 102 countries around the world and broken a Vevo record.

Official Charts Company data shows that ‘Hello’ has already sold in excess of 165,000 combined sales and streams since last week and has been downloaded 156,000 times. Ellie Goulding’s ‘Love Me Like You Do’ is currently the fastest selling single of the year with 173,000 combined sales. Adele is expected to surpass this by the end of the week.
