Pharrell on Adele collaboration: ‘You have 20 minutes then she’s off with her beautiful baby’

The hitmaker hints that he's worked with the British singer

Pharrell Williams has suggested that he has collaborated with Adele, but stated that her responsibilities as a new mother made their time together brief.

The British singer gave birth to her first child, Angelo, in October 2012. She is thought to be working on her third album.

Speaking during a talk at the Cannes Lions festival, Pharrell said: “I’ve seen her recently. She’s kinda like, ‘Okay, guys, I’m gonna open my diary for 20 minutes’. So it’s like, okay, you have 20 minutes, or 32 minutes really”.

“Then she gives it to you and closes it up and disappears, and she’s off with her beautiful boy – and that’s what it’s all about.”

As The Mirror reports, Williams then added: “She is a masterful writer. You listen to her albums and the intention is living and breathes.”

Producer Emile Haynie previously stated that Adele is “taking her time” on her new album, expected to be named ’25’. The producer, who has previously worked with Kanye West, Eminem, Lana Del Rey and Bruno Mars, told The Daily Star that he met with the singer in February to discuss potentially working together and that the singer was in no rush to release a new album.

“We got along well as friends when we met in February and I hope we can cut some songs, but Adele is taking her time,” he said. “I’d push for it to happen, but we’ll have to wait and see.”

Fans are eagerly awaiting Adele’s third album. Her debut ’19’ was released in 2008, followed by ’21’ in 2011. ’21’ was recently announced as the best selling album this millennium, with sales of 4.74 million since its release.
