An online rumour that Adele is set to release a new album and tour the world in 2015 have been denied
It was reported yesterday, that the singer would release the anticipated follow-up to her second album, ’21’, and tour the world in support. The original source was a tweet by the World Music Awards, which has since been deleted.
The tweet read: “#adele confirms 2015 Tour After The Release Of Her New Album ’25’!” When it was put to Martin Mills, chairman of the Beggars Group of which Adele’s label XL Recordings is a member by Billboard, he stated that there was “no truth” in the rumour.
Adele did tease fans earlier this year, however. Writing to fans in May, the singer bid farewell to her 25th year in anticipation of her 26th birthday on May 5 with the caption that she would “see” 25 “later in the year”. Given that her previous albums were named after the age she was when she wrote them – ’19’ and ’21’ respectively, the message led to speculation that her third album could be released this year.
Earlier this year, OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder claimed that he was working on a new Adele album, although he had no idea when the record would be released. The singer had previously worked with Adele on ’21’ – co-penning songs including ‘Rumour Has It’ and ‘Turning Tables’.
Phil Collins previously claimed he was writing songs with Adele while rapper Wiz Khalifa claimed that a collaboration he recorded with the singer for his next album has been scrapped.
