Adele dedicates her New York gig to Brangelina

Singer calls the demise of their relationship "the end of an era"

Adele dedicated her concert in New York City last night (September 20) to the demise of Brangelina.

It had been confirmed earlier in the day that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have filed for divorce after calling time on their 12-year relationship.

“I need to address the elephant in the room,” Adele told fans at Madison Square Garden. “It’s the end of an era!” She also dedicated her entire set to the former couple, saying she is “so so sad” about their impending divorce.

This morning (September 21), Brad Pitt has released a statement following news yesterday (September 20) that Angelina Jolie had filed for divorce.

In a statement to People Magazine, Pitt says: “I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the wellbeing of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”

The reason for the split is cited in legal documents as “irreconcilable differences”. TMZ claims that Jolie is seeking physical custody and wants Pitt only to have joint legal custody of their children.

TMZ‘s report reads: “Sources connected with the couple tell us… Angelina’s decision to file has to do with the way Brad was parenting the children… she was extremely upset with his methods.”

“We’re told there was no alleged ‘third person’… her decision to file was solely over Brad’s interaction with their children. Jolie… is not asking for spousal support.”

The news was confirmed yesterday by the actress’s lawyer Robert Offer, who said in a statement that Jolie filed for “dissolution of marriage” and that the “decision was made for the health of the family”.

“She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time,” the statement added.
