Adele visits seriously ill fan in Belfast following mum’s campaign

The star was in the city on tour but found the time to make the young girl's dreams come true

Adele has taken time out from her UK tour to visit a seriously ill fan in Belfast.

The Oscar-winning star, who kicked off her ’25’ jaunt in the city, visited the home of Rebecca Gibney following a campaign by her mother Tracy to arrange for her daughter to meet her favourite popstar.

Images of their meeting have since emerged on Twitter, with the 12-year old’s mum telling Belfast Live: “It all started months and months ago I set up the page for Rebecca to meet Adele.

“I got the manager’s email and I emailed her four months ago and she said to leave it with her.”

She continued: “I was sitting in the hairdresser today and the manager called and said, ‘Tracy, it’s Adele’s manager I am getting back to you because Adele has seen your Rebecca’s pictures and she was very emotional and she wants to come and meet your daughter’.”

Tracy went on to explain how they arranged the meeting, and that Adele was everything they hoped for and more, adding: “I cannot put it into words what it means.”

And, Adele’s goodwill gestures didn’t stop there, with the singer helping a female fan propose to her boyfriend on stage during her show at Belfast’s SSE Arena to celebrate it being a Leap-Year.

Adele’s tour continues throughout March and into April. She will also hit the road in Europe and the US throughout 2016. See below for her remaining live dates in the UK.
