Adele jokes about her ‘depressing’ songs as UK tour begins in Belfast – watch

Full setlist report here

Adele began the UK leg of her world tour in Belfast last night (February 29).

In what was her first full gig in four and a half years, Adele admitted to being nervous before the SSE Arena show and joked that she “woke up sounding like Arnold Schwarzenegger” after leaving the air conditioning on in her hotel room.

BBC News reports that she played an 18-song set that opened with ‘Hello’ and closed on ‘Rolling In The Deep’ with Bond theme ‘Skyfall’ and debut single ‘Hometown Glory’ all featuring.

Though she rarely tours, Adele is busy promoting 2015 album ’25’ and performed a raft of material from the record including ‘Send My Love (To Your New Lover)’, ‘Million Years Ago’ and ‘When We Were Young’.

Adele wowed the sold out audience with an acoustic version of ‘Send My Love (To Your New Lover)’ and was backed by a 21-piece backing band throughout.

“I know some of you have been dragged along,” she joked, “but I’m going to win you over.”

Self deprecating throughout, Adele joked that “some of my songs get a bit depressing” and that her live show “isn’t Beyonce”. She was also frank about sweating during the gig (“I need to wipe the puddle off me face”) and struggling to understand the words to Bob Dylan’s ”Make You Feel My Love’ before her cover (“I couldn’t understand what he was saying”).

Adele played:

‘Hometown Glory’
‘One And Only’
