Adele turned down invite to appear on new Macklemore album

Ed Sheeran ended up contributing to 'Growing Up' instead

Macklemore has revealed that he asked Adele to guest on his new album but she turned him down.

The rapper, who released ‘This Unruly Mess I’ve Made’ alongside collaborator Ryan Lewis on Friday (February 26), revealed in an interview with The New York Times that he approached the multiple-Brit-Award winner to appear on the song ‘Growing Up’. When she “graciously passed” he turned to Ed Sheeran, who recorded the vocals instead.

“I’m sure that there were times that we never heard back from somebody’s manager or something like that,” Macklemore added.

Other guests on ‘This Unruly Mess I’ve Made’ include Chance The Rapper, Idris Elba and Leon Bridges.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis will play a series of UK arena tour dates in April 2016. The tour begins at Manchester Arena on April 12 and culminates at the end of the month at The O2 in London. The hip-hop pair will play dates in Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds, Nottingham and Birmingham in between.
