Adele has drawn criticism online, with some fans and followers finding her ‘Titanic’ themed 30th birthday party “very distasteful”.
The singer took to social media to share images of her weekend birthday celebrations – featuring photos of herself with guests dancing while wearing in life-jackets. Her close friend and comedian Alan Carr later revealed that all guests got to keep one as a souvenir.
“Dirty 30!” she wrote on Instagram. “I’m not sure what I’m going to do for the next 30 years as I’ve been blessed beyond words in my life so far. Thank you to everyone for coming along for the ride the last 11 years with me. My family and friends for entertaining my super fandom of the Titanic movie. Last night was the best night of my life. Here’s a couple pics. I’m absolutely fucked, not sure I’ll make it out the house again!
“Ps Childish Gambino how the hell do you have time to offer us so much greatness on so many platforms. I adore you x”

While many fans sent the singer birthday wishes and supported her party, others took to Twitter to argue that the theme was inappropriate given the nature of the 1912 disaster.
“I feel this is very distasteful,” replied follower KatieHooper4. “I can understand the theme but only as far as a fancy boat. Wearing life jackets is entirely disrespectful and quite frankly disgusting.
“So many people died at this horrific tragedy and dancing around in life jackets that could have saved so many people is horrific.”
Another argued: “Isn’t this very inappropriate? Adele’s Titanic themed birthday party had them dancing in life jackets… thousands of people actually died.”

#adele Very poor tasted party for your 30th! Did your parents not teach you that 1,500 men, women & children died on the Titanic? Who finds that fun? No respect for you at all!

I am disgusted, offended and sickened by Adele. Throwing a birthday party with a Titanic theme! The stupid moron! 1500 people died on that ship. ??

A) I love @Adele
B) Men, women & children (mainly 3rd Class passengers, because ya know, “poor people don’t count”) actually died excruciatingly painful deaths in freezing water.
C) Dancing in life vests is crass as f**k.@Adele, wtf were you thinking??https://t.co/n9Ppsf5jN2

People are sick for praising @Adele on her Titanic party, dancing with fucking life vests. PEOPLE DIED AND IT WAS A TRAGEDY.

@adele and over a thousand people died that night, pretty horrifically. Like icicles and frozen faces? And lifejackets?

Others were supportive of Adele however, with one writing: “Adele had a Titanic themed birthday party. She is wearing Rose’s gown and dancing in a life jacket. I have never loved anything more.”
“You’re wrong here,” said one fan. Adele is never problematic, it was the movie that she set as here party’s theme and not the actual tragedy. Titanic was a love story with tragedy as its backdrop,. I guess it’s simple to understand.”
Another said: “If she doesn’t release a cover of My Heart Will Go On… Adele I’m not playing, I’ve offed my wig already.”

Earlier this year, it emerged that Adele grossed a massive £142million from her last world tour.
In the latest figures released by her company Remedy Touring LLP, £142million was from ticket sales, T-shirts and other souvenirs – with the company pocketing £70million in profit, and Adele herself £42million.
This is on top of the £9million she reportedly made last year from record sales – with her latest 2015 album ’25’ shifting a massive 22million copies to date.
