Asian Dub Foundation are to play a low-key gig in anticipation of their performance at this year’s CARLING WEEKEND FESTIVAL, nme.com can reveal.
ADF play the Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms on August 24, the night before they appear on the main stage at the Reading leg of the Carling Weekend Festival on August 25. The band then play at the Glasgow Green Festival In The City (26), before returning to play the Leeds leg of the Carling Weekend (28).
Tickets for the 400-capacity Portsmouth show are priced #8.50, and are available now via credit card from the Wedgewood Rooms Box Office on 0239 2863911.
The band, who played at last weekend’s Glastonbury Festival, will also perform at various European festivals this summer, including slots at the Cardiff Big Weekend (August 5) and the Dublin Witnness Festival (6).
Speaking to nme.com at the recent Reykjavik Music Festival in Iceland, guitarist Chandrasonic revealed the band want to “reinvent” themselves when they next go into the studio. He said: “The last album was the final statement of that way of doing things, that sound of the drum and bass…we’re moving on and changing the whole thing…In the past, we’ve been about concentrating and compressing things down. It’s a very disciplined thing to do, like a guerrilla army kind of music. But that’s going to change next time.”
The band also plan to release a new single from their album ‘Community Music’ in September.
