Aerosmith were forced to cancel a US show after a scoreboard at the venue they were due to play collapsed.

The group were due to perform a show at the 12,000 capacity Jefferson Convention Complex Arena in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday (December 1).

However, the show has now been postponed after an elevated scoreboard fell 70 feet and was destroyed just hours before the show was due to start. Nobody was hurt in the incident.

The local Birmingham News reports that the concert, which was also set to feature Cult, is likely to be rescheduled for a later date. The cause of the collapse is likely to be a snapped cable.

Aerosmith continue their US tour into 2002.
