The Aerosmith frontman was playing a solo gig in New York
Steven Tyler played the Melrose Ballroom, New York, on Thursday night (September 10), previewing the country sound of his forthcoming album.
Alongside new material like ‘Love Is Your Name’ – Tyler’s first Billboard Hot 100 appearance since 2001 – he played country versions of several Aerosmith songs.
The setlist included ‘Cryin’’, ‘What It Takes’ and ‘Pink’. Tyler was accompanied by his backing band, Loving Mary.

The gig followed the announcement earlier this year that Tyler was to release a solo country album. Last year, Tyler told Rolling Stone: “I grew up in the woods of New Hampshire… I have more country in me than people think”.
Tyler is no stranger to the country scene. In the past year, he has performed with country stars including Brad Paisley, Jana’s Kramer, Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood.
He is now on the same record label as Taylor Swift, Big Machine, and his album is expected to be released in 2016.
