Aerosmith and Post Malone teamed up for an unlikely surprise collaboration to close last night’s MTV VMA Awards 2018. Check it out below.

The rock veterans and 21 Savage joined Malone to play the track ‘Rockstar’ from his huge-selling album ‘beerbongs & bentleys‘, before merging into a medley of their own classics ‘Dream On’ and ‘Toys In The Attic’.

Taking to Twitter, viewers’ reactions ranged from pleasant surprise to utter bewilderment.

“Am I high, or is Post Malone performing with Aerosmith?” asked one viewer, while another added “this is truly truly Trump’s America.”

Meanwhile, the evening saw Post Malone take home the awards for ‘Best Song’ with ‘Rockstar’. Check out the full list of MTV VMA winners here.

The show also saw Cardi B’s first public appearance since giving birth (where she pretended to breastfeed one of the awards statues), while Madonna also caused controversy with her tribute to Aretha Franklin.

Aerosmith were to promote the band’s upcoming Las Vegas residency. to celebrate their 50th anniversary.

“We’re going to be doing a residency in Vegas starting next spring”, said guitarist Joe Perry.

“What we want to do is something that I haven’t seen before… just downsizing our live show, just playing in a smaller place. We want to do something different. We’re in the middle of the production now. What we’re talking about is having an experience that you wouldn’t be able to see on a regular Aerosmith tour.”
