Akon buys African president a bulletproof van

Singer plans to release five albums in five different genres this year

According to reports, Akon has purchased a bulletproof van for an African president.

TMZ revealed the news via South Florida’s The Auto Firm, who said the Senegal born singer had ordered a 2014 Mercedes Sprinter and asked for the entire vehicle to be reinforced with bulletproof armor.

The vehicle was alluded to be a gift for an African president, but Akon won’t say which one. The eight seater van was also fitted with various extras including iPad controlled DirecTV and surround sound. Akon is yet to comment on the purchase.

At the start of the year, Akon announced his plans to release five new albums in 2015.

The ambitious plans for ‘Stadium’ will see the singer release albums in five different genres: Euro, pop, island, urban and world. A song from each of the five albums can be heard on Akon’s website.
