The show is part of the star-studded 'New Power Project' campaign...

ALANIS MORISSETTE is to perform a show in ALASKA to help promote a new campaign in opposition of US president GEORGE W. BUSH’s energy policy.

As previously reported on NME.COM, Beastie Boys, Moby and Morissette are among the stars who have joined forces to back a campaign protesting at US President George W. Bush’s energy policies.

Under the banner the New Power Project, the stars are joined by James Taylor, Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers and Jackson Browne protesting at Bush’s move towards increasing energy reserves by extending production of traditional fuels, such as drilling for oil in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and focusing on nuclear power rather than investigating alternative and renewable energy sources.

The artists will use their fan email lists, websites and gigs to promote the issues and ask their fans to take direct action by signing petitions and sending messages to the Bush administration and their members of Congress.

As part of her campaign, Morissette will perform in Anchorage, Alaska on July 31, according to [url=] The venue is close to where Bush is considering exploring for energy resources.

In a posting on her official website,, she said: “We do not have to stand by and watch as some seemingly self-interested and short-sighted decisions actively take part in destroying the planet. I believe that what we do today affects all future generations and the earth upon which they live. What we do now plays a huge role in what kind of earth that will look like.”
