All Saints return with single inspired by Liam Gallagher split

New album to follow in April

All Saints’s comeback single was inspired by Nicole Appleton’s divorce from Liam Gallagher.

The pop group, made up of Nicole and sister Natalie Appleton, Melanie Blatt and Shaznay Lewis, will release ‘One Strike, their first single in 10 years on February 26.

Lewis revealed that Nicole’s split was “on my mind” when she wrote the song.

“The lyrics came from somewhere very real. Nic was going through a lot of things at that time. That was at the forefront of my mind because it was the heaviest thing going on,” she said.

“We spoke for hours and hours on the phone,” Nicole added.

“The first few times I heard it in my car I couldn’t stop crying because I could hear so clearly what it was about,” said Natalie.

The band, which released hits such as ‘Pure Shores’ and ‘Never Ever’, split in 2001. They previously reunited in 2006 but their return was poorly received at the time.

“We didn’t force ourselves into this situation and it couldn’t have happened at a better time in all of our lives. I just missed being with the girls. It makes us happy. Listen, if you can work with your favourite people, then why not?” Natalie said.

Their first album in a decade ‘Red Flag’ will be released April 8.
