New single previews Green’s debut solo album ‘High Anxiety’

Alt-J drummer Thom Sonny Green has shared the video for his new single ‘Palms’ to preview his debut solo album.

The video for ‘Palms’ is directed by Green with Nichola Farnan, a Dalston-based artist. Farnan has created videos for all 21 songs on Green’s album ‘High Anxiety’, which is released on August 19.

‘Palms’ is the second song released from the album, following opening track ‘Vienna’ earlier this month. Green made his solo live debut at Latitude this weekend, playing on the tiny Solas stage. It followed Alt-J’s main stage headline performance at the festival in 2015.

Further live performances are expected to be announced shortly.

‘High Anxiety’ is released on Green’s own record label Sudden. A statement said Green intends to release other artists’ music on the label as well as his own. Green cited the album’s influences as Deftones, Clams Casino, Radiohead and Arca.

The statement said: “Unlike the raw physicality of alt-J performances, Thom explores a more cerebral side with this project demonstrating his complete artistry as songwriter, producer, and visual artist.”

The tracklist of ‘High Anxiety’ is:
‘Vienna’
’40 Beers’
‘Market’
‘System’
‘Blew’
‘Arizona’
‘Oslo’
‘Ping’
‘Cologne’
‘Houston’
‘Oakland’
‘VVVV’
‘Phoenix’
