Amy Winehouse’s local pub fights to make its comeback

The Hawley Arms faces planning red tape

Amy Winehouse‘s local The Hawley Arms is suffering from red tape setbacks since it was savaged by fire in February.

According to local paper the Camden New Journal, the favourite indie watering hole in north London is facing a mammoth renovation task to reopen, with main opposition from the Town Hall‘s planning department.

Licensee Ruth Mattram revealed her anger at the difficulties she has faced, arguing: “I would have expected Camden to be more supportive to us and to [the people of] Camden.”

It is reported that the hold-up is due to Camden questioning some of the latest designs.

Mottram hit back at the queries, saying: “We’re not trying to reinvent the wheel. Our intention is to bring it back as it was.”
