Amy Winehouse wins British Female Solo Artist BRIT

Plus Nelly Furtado wins International Female Solo Artist

Amy Winehouse has won the BRIT for Best Female Solo Artist at the ceremony in Earl’s Court tonight (February 14).

She was presented with the award by Radio 1‘s Jo Whiley, declaring “I’m just happy my mum and dad are here” as she accepted the prize.

Meanwhile, Nelly Furtado has won the BRIT for International Female Solo Artist. Kaiser Chiefs singer Ricky Wilson presented the award.


“Yeah! I finally got a BRIT,” she told the audience. “I’ve always wanted to be here since I saw all the greats like Oasis and Blur… All my favourite bands are from here!”
