Amyl and the Sniffers have announced their debut album with the release of new single, ‘Monsoon Rock’. Stream the track and find more details below.
The Australian punk outfit, who featured in NME 100: Essential new artists for 2019, released a collection of EP tracks called ‘Big Attraction & Giddy Up’ last year. In September, they performed a packed out, riotous gig at London’s Moth Club.
Now, following a move to the Rough Trade label, the Melbourne band have shared news of their upcoming debut LP. The album is scheduled for release on May 24.
Previewing the full-length, Amyl and the Sniffers have shared the relentless cut, ‘Monsoon Rock’ – along with its accompanying DIY visuals.
Describing the single, the band said: “Monsoon Rock is just a song to rage to and celebrating good gigs/live music, we wrote it around the time of Gizzfest 2017 when it was pissing down with rain but everybody still got into it, just muddier and wetter and real feral.
“We ran out of time to make a video and it’s always fun making funny shit, if you don’t have a sense of humour and can’t laugh what’s the point of being alive?”
Amyl and the Sniffers return to the UK in April, with the tour including an appearance at London’s Heaven. Later this month, they’ll showcase new music at SXSW in Austin, Texas.
Amyl and the Sniffers will play:
01 – Nottingham, The Bodega
02 – London, Heaven
03 – Leeds, Brudenell Social Club
04 – Bristol, The Louisiana
06 – Manchester, The Deaf Institute
07 – Brighton, The Haunt
Reviewing the band’s previous London outing, NME said: “The energy is so palpable that you kind of expect Amyl and the Sniffers to play forever – it’s that kind of show.”
