Anna Calvi has spoken about her early influences and inspirations in a new video interview.
Speaking to NME in the video, which you watch by clicking above, the singer said she learned to play guitar by “playing along to Jimi Hendrix records in my bedroom.”
She added: “I love singers like Edith Piaf and Nina Simone, who have so much emotion in their voices. It’s quite out of fashion now, but I really like it.”
Calvi headlines May’s Emerge NME Radar Tour, with Grouplove and Big Deal also on the bill.
