Anne-Marie opens up about her sexuality

Singer says she has "never felt the need to tell anyone that I'm bisexual"

Anne-Marie has opened up about her sexuality in a new interview, revealing that she is attracted to both men and women.

The British singer’s song ‘Perfect’ contains the lyric, “And I’ll love who I want to love, ’cause this love is gender-free”, and now the star has told The Line Of Best Fit: “I’ve never ever just been attracted to men. I’ve never just been attracted to women”.

“I’ve never felt the need to tell anyone that I’m bisexual,” Anne-Marie said, before adding that she doesn’t “feel” like she’s bisexual.

“I just feel like I’m attracted to who I like,” she continued. “I honestly feel like everyone is like that.”

The Essex pop star released her debut album ‘Speak Your Mind’ last week (April 27).

In a three-star review, NME‘s Thomas Smith wrote: “‘Speak Your Mind’ fails to leave much of an impression musically. At its best, the album is a selection of polished and inoffensive pop songs, but at its worst, it’s forgettable.”

Speaking to NME last year, Anne Marie explained how her album was inspired by “heartbreak”.

“When I’m happy and in a good mood, I just search for other things that maybe connect to me on another level,” she told NME.

“I talk to my friends and see how they’re feeling – see what’s going on in their lives. I search YouTube and look for speeches by activists. I’ve got a lot of songs on my album about what’s going on in the world, and how it is growing up as a female.

“Sometimes you can’t necessarily say [these things] in a single on the radio, but, this is the importance of an album – the fact that you can just have other vibes and different subjects. That’s the beauty of it.”
