Canadian band cover 1981 hit during US show on Saturday (March 8)

Arcade Fire performed a cover of Prince’s ‘Controversy’ at at a gig in Minnesota on Saturday night (March 8). Scroll down to hear a recording from the show now.

The band were performing live at the Target Centre in Minnesota as part of their ongoing US tour when they performed the cover of Prince’s 1981 song as part of their encore. Billboard reports that the band also played segments of Lady Gaga’s ‘Do What You Want’ and ‘Sweet Child Of Mine’ by Guns N’ Roses elsewhere in their set, which was broadcast live on local radio.

Pictures taken at the Minnesota gig show frontman Win Butler during the performance of ‘Controversy’ with a box on his head showing images of Prince on it. Later in the show the box showed a picture of Minnesota’s controversial politician Michele Bachmann. Scroll down to see the image below.

Arcade Fire are set to bring their tour to the UK in June, where they’ll play two shows at London’s Earls Court on June 6 and 7. They have also been announced as Friday night’s headliner at Glastonbury, which takes place between June 25 and 29.
