Arcade Fire join Pearl Jam on stage for Neil Young cover – watch

Win Butler joins Eddie Vedder and bandmates in Perth

Arcade Fire performed a cover of Neil Young’s ‘Rockin’ In The Free World’ with Pearl Jam at Big Day Out in Perth on Sunday night (February 2). Watch it above.

The live version of the track has become a staple in Pearl Jam’s live show and was the song the band performed with Sleater-Kinney members in 2013. Closing their set at Big Day Out on Perth this weekend, Eddie Vedder’s band invited Win Butler and the rest of Arcade Fire to join them on stage for the cover.

Arcade Fire are currently on tour in Australia and have been headlining the Big Day Out festival, playing a setlist made up of older material plus new songs, unlike the shows they played under the name Reflektors around the time of the album’s release last year. Previously in the tour, Pearl Jam and Arcade Fire were involved in a basketball game which left a fan with a broken nose.

Arcade Fire have also announced plans to play live in Haiti, the country that inspired the band’s latest album ‘Reflektor’. The band’s management confirmed to Billboard that they will perform at a carnival in the coastal town of Jacmel on February 21. The event usually features only local groups.

Arcade Fire are set to bring their tour to the UK in June, where they’ll play two shows at London’s Earls Court on June 6 and 7. They have also been announced as Friday night’s headliner at Glastonbury, which takes place between June 25 and 29.
