Arcade Fire, M83, Mike Patton make Academy Award longlist for Best Original Score

114 soundtracks are eligible for the musical Oscar - the nominations will be revealed on January 16, 2014

Arcade Fire, M83 and Mike Patton are amongst the artists who have made the longlist for the Academy Award for Best Original Score.

114 soundtracks are eligible for the award and Arcade Fire have been given the nod for their score for Spike Jonze’s Her, whilst M83‘s score for Oblivion directed by Joseph Kosinski and Mike Patton of Faith No More‘s score for Derek Cianfrance’s The Place Beyond the Pines have all also made the list, reports Pitchfork. The Academy Award nominations will be announced on January 16, 2014. The ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on March 2.

At the 85th annual Academy Awards earlier this year, Mychael Danna won the Best Original Score prize for his work on Life Of Pi. Adele and Paul Epworth won the award for Best Original Song for ‘Skyfall’ from the James Bond movie Skyfall.
