Arcade Fire members joined by The National’s Matt Berninger at charity gig

Win Butler and Régine Chassange performed as a duo on New Year's Eve

Matt Berninger of The National joined Arcade Fire members onstage at a charity gig on New Year’s Eve.

Win Butler and Régine Chassagne of Arcade Fire were backed by Haitian band Zing Experience for the Midnight Masquerade fundraiser at the St. Regis Aspen Resort. The gig was to benefit the Artists For Peace And Justice charity.

Video footage has yet to emerge from the gig, tickets for which were priced $1500 (£1000). However, Berninger is reported to have joined Butler and Chassange for ‘Wake Up’. The gig also included the first full run through of ‘Reflektor’-era song ‘Porno’ and a cover of Led Zeppelin’s ‘D’yer Mak’er’ as well as a handful of Zing Experience material. See below for pictures from the gig.

The gig setlist was as follows:

‘Rebellion (Lies)’
‘To the Haitian Nurses Lost’
‘Ma Woule’
‘Here Comes The Night Time’
‘Wake Up’ (Feat. Matt Berninger)
‘The Suburbs’
‘D’yer Mak’er’

Both Arcade Fire and The National are believed to be working on new albums, though neither have confirmed release dates. Berninger recently issued an update on the recording sessions for The National’s next album, describing their new songs as “very fucking amazing”. However, he went on to state that the album could take longer than previously thought.

Meanwhile, Arcade Fire’s next record was said to be “30 per cent done” as of September 2015.
