The video was produced by the band's long-time collaborator Vincent Morisset

Arcade Fire have released an interactive video.

The film was produced by the band’s longtime collaborator Vincent Morisset and is the latest activity in what is set to be an eventful day for the band – they are due to make a major announcement online at 9pm this evening (September 9), and are apparently playing an impromptu gig in Montreal.

According to the text accompanying the video at, the Just A Reflektor film is “an interactive short film that explores the themes in Arcade Fire’s ‘Reflektor’ through two devices simultaneously: the computer and smartphone/tablet. Filmed in Haiti, where the band’s singer Régine Chassagne was raised, the story follows a young woman who travels between her world an our own.” The film was shot in Jacmel and features the track ‘Reflektor’ in full. Users must have the Google Chrome web browser to interact with the film.

The band previously experimented with online interactive videos with The Wilderness Downtown and Neon Bible. You can read about the making of the video and the technology behind it here.

It is widely expected that the band will officially unveil new single ‘Reflektor’ this evening. The track, thought to feature David Bowie, leaked online over the weekend. Anton Corbjin has said that a video he directed for the song – a traditional music video separate from the interactive film – will also be revealed this evening. A rumoured tracklist and album cover appeared online today too, though it has not been confirmed if either are official. Read the full round-up news here.
