Members of Arcade Fire, The Strokes and Bon Iver form Pop All Star Band supergroup

One-off performance will come in Montreal today (September 20)

Members of Arcade Fire, The Strokes and Bon Iver will form a supergroup for one-night only today (September 20).

Justin Vernon, Strokes bass player Nikolai Fraiture and Arcade Fire siblings Win and Will Butler will perform as the Pop All Star Band at the Pop vs Jock III game held in Montreal as part of this year’s Pop Montreal festival.

The music will come as all of the artists and current NBA players play a team of college basketball players in an exhibition match. Matt Bonner of the San Antonio Spurs has been recruited to coach the musicians team, who will face local basketball players at the McGill University Sports Centre.

In addition to the one-off Pop All Star Band performance, Pop Vs. Jock will also see A-Trak and Kid Koala DJing while LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy will DJ at the afterparty.

Pop Montreal began on September 17 and finishes tomorrow (September 21). The festival will see performances by artists including Twin Shadow, Panda Bear, Against Me! and Schoolboy Q alongside the basketball game.
