Arctic Monkeys top Official Record Store Chart with ‘AM’

Sheffield band hold off Polica and James Blunt to claim top spot

Arctic Monkeys‘ ‘AM’ tops this week’s Official Record store Chart.

The album, which is currently Number Four in the Official Album Chart, beat off competition from Polica and James Blunt to land the top spot. The Official Record Store Chart reflects sales in the UK’s independent record shops. It was launched as part of last year’s Record Store Day, the annual celebration of independent record shops.

Elsewhere in the Top Ten there is a new entry for Katy Perry’s latest album ‘Prism’, which arrives at Number Four in its first week on sale. Meanwhile, albums from London Grammar, Darkside and Pearl Jam stay strong in the Top Ten alongside Haim‘s ‘Days are Gone’ and ‘One Breath’ by Anna Calvi.

Sales of albums from around 100 independent record retailers who participate in Record Store Day UK. The full Top 40 featuring every week in the new-look NME.
