Arctic Monkeys play unannounced show at BBC Radio One’s Big Weekend

Alex Turner and co make surprise appearance at Carlisle event

Arctic Monkeys played a surprise show at BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend in Carlisle at 1pm (GMT) today (May 14).

The band played a 12 song, 45 minute set, which opened with ‘The View From The Afternoon’ and featured two songs from their new album ‘Suck It And See’, including new single ‘Don’t Sit Down ‘Cause I’ve Moved Your Chair’.

They also played a selection of songs from their back catalogue, including ‘Brianstorm’, ‘I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor’ and ‘Humbug’ favourite ‘Cornerstone’.

Arctic Monkeys closed their set with ‘When The Sun Goes Down’, with frontman Alex Turner thanking the crowd as they left the stage. He said: “Thank you Carlisle. We’re going to get out of your hair now.”
