The Brit Awards 2015 unveil Tracey Emin-designed new trophy

The ceremony will take place on February 25, 2015

The Brit Awards 2015 have unveiled their new trophy, designed by artist Tracey Emin.

Speaking of her design, Emin said the following: “You want to do it really well. You don’t just want to decorate it, you want to make something that is really Tracey-ish, that is special for the people receiving it.”

Brits chairman Max Lousada, meanwhile, praised the design for being “characteristically bold, brilliant, colourful and inventive – everything the Brits stands for.”

Other noted artists and designers have previously taken up the mantle of designing the statue for the awards ceremony. Dame Vivienne Westwood was commissioned in 2011, Peter Blake in 2012, Damien Hirst in 2013 and miliner Philip Treacy worked on the 2014 figure.

The Brit Awards 2015 will take place at London’s O2 Arena on February 25, 2015, while the winner of this year’s Critics’ Choice Award will be revealed on December 4.

As previously announced, the three nominees for the Critics’ Choice Award are James Bay, Years & Years and George The Poet.

Meanwhile, last year’s ceremony saw a now-infamous acceptance speech from Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner, who picked up the awards for Best British Group and Best British Album (for ‘AM’) with a lengthy speech addressing the future of rock’n’roll.
