Arctic Monkeys kick off new leg of UK tour

Sheffield band follow-up secret dates with Southampton gig

Arctic Monkeys kicked off the first official date of their UK tour last night (April 9) in Southampton’s Guildhall.

As well as playing live favourites from their 2006 debut album ‘Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not’, the band showcased several tracks from their forthcoming new album ’Favourite Worst Nightmare’, which is released on April 23.

As previously reported, these scheduled dates follows a secret tour of England mounted by Arctic Monkeys in February, along with a series of European shows.

The band continue the sold-out tour tonight (April 10) at Exeter’s University Great Hall and then they will play:

Arctic Monkeys, meanwhile, went to Number 11 in the UK singles charts this week with downloads of new song ’Brianstorm’ – the physical single is not released until April 16.
