Frontman makes rare performance of the song by himself during huge London show

Footage of Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner playing ‘A Certain Romance’ acoustically during the band’s first night at Finsbury Park in London has been published online.

The lead singer returned to the stage by himself after the main set of last night’s gig in north London, sporting an acoustic guitar and smoking a roll up cigarette.

“I feel like playing an old song by myself on the acoustic,” said Turner before the solo version of the song, which can be found on the band’s 2006 debut album and is rarely ever played by the band anymore. I’m only human,” he added. “It’s been a while so bear with me.”

The song was the first in a four song encore that also included ‘One For The Road’, ‘I Wanna Be Yours’ and ‘R U Mine’. Click here for a full gig report and setlist. Arctic Monkeys return to Finsbury Park for a second sell-out show tonight (May 24).
