The Coral compare Arctic Monkeys’ Old Trafford to Verve classic

James Skelly praises his Sheffield pals' Manchester show

The Coral have continued Arctic Monkeys‘ giant gig at Lancashire County Cricket Club’s Old Trafford ground this evening (July 28) with a hit laiden set.

The band who took the stage at 5.50pm (BST), tore through a series of live favourites as the Manchester crowd started to reach its capacity.

Clearly touched by the occasion, singer James Skelly told NME.COM that show rated for him as one of the best events he had been to.

“I went to see The Verve at Haigh Hall in 1998 when I was a kid and I reckon this will rate up there for the kids here now,” he declared.

The crowd were clearly in the same mood with ’Dreaming Of You’ drawing a massive cheer from across the cricket ground, while the likes of ’In The Morning’ and ’I Remember When’ encouraged the audience into their first big dance of the day.

The Coral played:

‘Spanish Main’

‘Goodbye’

‘Who’s Gonna Find Me’

‘Will She Remember Me?’

‘Dreaming Of You’

‘I Remember When’

‘She’s Got A Reason’

Supergrass are due on stage next, before Arctic Monkeys themselves take the stage.
