Aretha Franklin to perform at Obama inauguration

Four million people are expected in Washington next month

Aretha Franklin is set to perform at the inauguration of Barack Obama in Washington DC next month.

The Queen Of Soul will play for an estimated four million people, who will make the trek to the city for the swearing in of Obama as the next President Of The United States.

Other participants in the historical inauguration will include poet Elizabeth Alexander, civil rights leader Rev Joseph Lowery, the US Marine and Navy bands, the San Francisco Boys Chorus and the San Francisco Girls Chorus, reports Yahoo.

In addition, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, violinist Itzhak Perlman, pianist Gabriela Montero and clarinetist Anthony McGill will perform a new work composed by John Williams, who scored the movies ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Jaws’. Williams was responsible for the music at the rally on November 4 in Chicago’s Grant Park, when Obama was named President Elect.

This will not be the first time for Franklin has shown her support for Obama. She attended an Obama rally in Detroit last summer, at which Obama himself sang some of her hit song ‘Chain Of Fools’.
