This makes it the highest number of plays in a week in UK chart history, overtaking Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You’ which earned 14.2 million streams in a single week last year.
Grande’s fifth week at number one also means she is the longest female artist to reach the number 1 spot since 2008, with Katy Perry’s ‘I Kissed A Girl’ spending five weeks at the top.
Grande’s video for ‘Thank You’ next also broke YouTube’s premiere record on its release, with 829,000 fans viewing the video at the same time upon its release.

According to Forbes, 829,000 viewers streamed the video simultaneously. 516,000 chat messages were also sent on the platform, with fans eager to unpick every moment.
YouTube’s official Twitter account posted: “The thank u, next video was so good, it broke the internet (or at least delayed YouTube comments from posting for a bit). Comments are still working on the video, they’re just delayed!”
At present, ‘Thank U, Next’ holds over 39,500,000 views on YouTube. It’s said that the video hit the one million mark in less than 34 minutes.
The records are coming in thick and fast for Grande, with it being revealed yesterday that she is the most streamed artist worldwide on Spotify. Earlier this month, ‘Thank U, Next’ also became the fastest song in Spotify history to surpass 100 million streams.
