Ariana Grande sparks rumours of NSYNC collaboration at Coachella

The star interpolated one of the boyband's songs on her latest album

Ariana Grande has sparked rumours that she will be joined by NSYNC during her Coachella 2019 set.

The pop star is set to headline the annual Californian festival on Sunday (April 14), topping the bill alongside Childish Gambino and Tame Impala.

Over the last few days, Grande’s social media accounts have been updated with videos of her singing along to NSYNC songs. According to TMZ, there’s a reason for her sudden urge to share clips of the boyband’s music, including concert footage from 1999 that shows Grande and her mum Joan in the crowd – all members except Justin Timberlake are reportedly set to join her on stage this weekend.

The website reports that Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick, and JC Chasez are planning a cameo with the singer, although it is currently unknown whether they will be singing, dancing, or both.

The collaboration isn’t completely out of the blue. Grande interpolated a section of their song ‘It Makes Me Ill’ on ‘Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored’, which featured on her latest album, ‘Thank U, Next’.

Coachella 2019 kicked off today (April 12) and featured performances from The 1975, Kacey Musgraves, BLACKPINK, Rosalía, Janelle Monáe, and more.

Earlier this week, Grande shared a scan of her brain to show the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder. The star was diagnosed with PTSD following the 2017 Manchester Arena terror attack which occurred at the conclusion of her show at the venue, killing 22 people and injuring over a hundred more. The singer spoke about living with the symptoms of the condition in an interview last year, saying: “It’s hard to talk about because so many people have suffered such severe, tremendous loss. But, yeah, it’s a real thing.”
